If you do not have a membership, you can purchase one HERE:

Covid-19 Adjustments—Read Carefully:

As in the fall and winter, we will continue to use US Lacrosse Return to Play guidelines, recommendations from a Doc's NYC task force of coaches and parents, and guidelines from State/Local health officials to conduct our Spring 2021 program. We will follow protocols involving required responses to health screen questions prior to a practice/game, player temperature taking (or reporting), parent social distancing on the sidelines, mask requirements/wearing (regular mask, gaiter, or lacrosse helmet protective shield) for all players and parents, hydration rules, and equipment sharing rules. No equipment can be borrowed on site.  Details will follow after registrations are completed. A COVID-19 WAIVER (available on our Website home page) must be signed/submitted prior to attending an Evaluation Session and the first day of Spring season practice.

If you have Covid-19/other questions, call Mat Levine at 917-957-4409 or Scott.Woodworth@citylax.org directlyOur goal is to provide a productive Doc's NYC Spring 2021 lacrosse experience with sessions that are safe, given the Pandemic environment.

Program Summary for Girls 6U-8U (K-2)

Please see below for a program description, registration guidelines, important dates, and other key information for families to know in order to have a successful lacrosse experience with us.  We appreciate the opportunity to have your child in our program.  The information below should provide you in detail with what you need to know in order to register.  Please read it carefully.

You can always reach us with your questions at Scott.Woodworth@citylax.org and Mat.Levine@citylax.org.

Guided by US Lacrosse's LADM (Lacrosse Athlete Develpoment Model), in the spring we offer our very successful teaching clinics/practices conducted on Sundays in the 9-1PM time block (last year 9-10:30AM--we hope for same or close to this in 2021; but please remain flexible).  Sessions are 75-90 minutes. Players will receive a Doc's NYC Lacrosse uniform (all other equipment is supplied by each family; see our website home page for what equipment is needed and where to purchase).

Times/Locations are subject to change slightly based on our final Field Permits.

Format is small groups (by age) managed by 1-2 coaches, learning lacrosse basics; we use non-competitive and competitive drills mostly in a station work teaching format; a progression of individual skills (rotational among the coaches) are taught, gradually building toward small space game play.   Coaches are guided by our Field Director who conducts each session with a weekly practice plan.  Beginning players will receive individual instruction as well as group instruction.  To conclude the season, we traditionally will host or travel and "play" another appropriate program in the Metro area (one day; a few hours), at the discretion of the Directors; projected to be May 22-23 or June 5-6 and subject to prevailing health conditions.

  • Season starts Sunday, March 28, 2021 (weather permitting) or April 11 and concludes May 23 or June 6.
  • School Field sites in the Bronx we have used in the past (such as Cardinal Spellman HS) may remain closed due to Pandemic restrictions.  If so, we will likely be using Randall's Island Fields (based on permits received).  Other fields are under consideration if available.  Please remain flexiible.

*Note: exact time and location of the field could vary slightly due to other events and COVID restrictions, but we plan on the 2021 sessions (75-90 minutes) to be on Sundays, in the 9-1PM time frame at Randall's Island Fields or other.

Commitment/Expectations - We expect all registered participants to attend at least 75% of the scheduled sessions.  You will get the most out of this program with consistent attendance.

Parent-Coaches.  Most welcome (with or without lacrosse background).  Please reach out to us directly if you are interested in serving as a parent-coach this Spring by emailing Scott.Woodworth@Citylax.org

GIRLS 9U-14U (formerly 3-8th grade) Spring 2021 Basic Information for all Teams

(then scroll down for Individual Program (by Age) Descriptions, Important Dates, and Important Supplemental Information to read before you Register)

    • Team Placement Process (Beginners through Advanced).  All players will be placed on a team for Spring season based on Age (mandated by US Lacrosse and our League affiliations) and then Ability.  Every player must be properly registered and evaluated. Based on Age/League rules and based on birthday, some players will be asked to play with the next age group in terms of grade and not stay with their "school grade" because their age lines up according to the US Lacrosse age/guidelines.
    • If a player is participating in another sport/activity during the spring season, we expect lacrosse to be the first priority.
    • For Team placements, players will be evaluated (required) in the preseason.  A player must attend at least 1 evaluation session. We highly recommend attending more than one evaluation, especially for grades 5-8 who aspire to be placed on a Blue (high ability) team. Team placements will be announced in Late March.
    • February 21st & 28th outdoor evaluation sessions @ Location and time To Be Announced.
      • Very important.  For staffing and planning, you will need to sign up for each evaluation sessiona registration link will be posted on our website, 1st week of January).
    • Sunday March 7th, 2021. Season starts with Individual team or "combined" (more than one) team practices with your coaches.  Times to be announced. Location to be announced. 90 minutes.  Weather permitting. This is a required practice.
    • Sunday March 14th, 2021.    Individual Team or "combined" team practices with your coaches.  Times to be announced.  Location to be announced.   90 Minutes.  Players traveling away on Spring Break starting March 15th, 2021 will be excused. All others are expected to attend practice.
    • Practice/Game/Tournament Schedules.  Will be posted in Late March on our website by team.
    • Weeknight Practices (Draft Schedules on Website Home Page, left column).  Begin week of March 29th, 2021.  Teams will practice twice per week night (6:15PM start, 75-90 minutes, as daylight allows) with their coaches and at times in combination with other team of same age group sharing the practice field.  Practice field sites used in the past have been Randall's Island and some Manhattan Park Fields. If Covid restrictions are in place for those who travel, families are expected to plan for testing/quarantine time in order to begin the team weeknight practices.
    • Parent Coaches with Experience Invited. Besides our regular Doc’s staff of coaches from the young professional ranks who are recent/former college players, we invite parents who have the proper lacrosse playing and/or coaching experience to join and serve as parent coach (either as an assistant or head coach). If you would be interested in serving as a parent-coach (head or assistant), please email Scott.Woodworth@citylax.org as you register your child.
    • Parents--Team Commissioners Needed.  Please reach out to us directly (as you register) if you are interested in serving as a team commissioner this Spring by emailing Scott.Woodworth@citylax.org  Commissioners play a vital role in assisting our coaches in the management of the team (communication throughout the season, carpool coordination, and as a resource for parents). We will send you more information about this very important position.
    • Player Attendance/Expectations.  100% Attendance at ALL Doc's NYC events (practices, games, etc.) is expected of all players, unless they are sick, injured, have a personal religious obligation, or serious academic reason to miss a team event. Families are expected to report absences to coaches and team commissioner in advance of an event as well as injuries that may cause an absence.  Less than a full commitment is not fair to your coaches/teammates and could result in reduced playing time. Players involved with other sports/activities are expected to give Doc's NYC Lacrosse the first priority over all others.

Individual age/grade program descriptions

GIRLS 9U/10U (formerly 3/4th Grades)

  • Game/Tournament Schedule.  Start weekend of April 10-11th and go through May 22-23 (subject to final scheduling).  Scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays (sometimes both) against teams in Metro area, in either the  7v7 (or 8v8)--we split into two teams-- or 12v12 formats (depends on the opponent).
  • Team Placement. Depending upon enrollment, we plan on having several teams per age grouping based on Age and also some consideration of Skill level.  Teams may be formed as single age (9U and 10U)  or mixed adjacent ages (9U-10U) depending upon enrollment and range of ability within the age bracket. Placements announced in Late March after evaluations are completed. Blue and Gold teams in Girls 9U/10U are often balanced in terms of ability.
  • Playing Time. Players on these teams are given balanced playing time over the course of the season (but not each game) based on practice and game attendance, effort, attitude, and team needs as determined by the coaches.
  • Format.  In our 6th year of following US Lacrosse's Lacrosse Athlete Development Model (LADM) for 9-10U teams to play the game format of 7v7 (or 8v8), now emphasized for this age group by US Lacrosse and endorsed by our affiliation with the CONNY (CT-NY) and Hudson Valley Leagues. This Short Field fast-paced format fosters more touches on the ball, stickwork/passing/ball-handling, and lacrosse decision-making in tighter spaces.  A team of 20-25 will be split into two teams to play short field games if the opponent plays the same format. However, there will be games against certain opponents where we will play regular full field 12v12, especially with 4th graders.
  • Do not stop here. Be sure to Scroll down past 11U/14 U for Important Dates and Supplemental Information and the registration link or continue to 11U/14U

GIRLS 11U/ 14U (formerly 5-8 Grades)

  • Game/Tournament Schedules.  Start weekend of April 10-11th and goes through either May 22-23 (subject to final scheduling). Doc's Teams play 10-12 game/tournament schedule on Saturdays and/or Sundays (sometimes both) against teams in metro area.  ALL 11U/ 14U (5-8th) grade games are played in a standard 10v10 format.
  • Teams and Team Placement - Based on age/ability, players are placed on Blue (A), Gold (B) or White (developmental) level teams.  Teams may be formed as single age (11U, 12U, 13U, and 14U) or mixed adjacent ages (11U-12U;13U-14U) depending upon enrollment, range of ability, and sometimes positional needs within the age bracket.  Placements announced in late March after evaluations completed.
    • Note:  Players historically on Doc's NYC Blue teams are NOT always guaranteed a Blue team 2021 spot.  Two evaluation sessions are strongly recommended.  A miniumum of 1 is required. Furthermore, Blue team rosters are usually smaller at the discretion of the directors.
  • Playing Time/Commitment.
    • Gold and White teams should be balanced over the course of the season (not each game) but is based on attendance, consistent effort, and attitude.
    • Blue team playing time is at the discretion of the coaches in order to be competitive and is based on attendance, commitment, attitude, and performance.  Best efforts will be made to balance playing time on Blue teams over the course of the season, but not guaranteed.
    • Blue Team Commitment. (Read Carefully) Players selected for Blue teams, must make Doc's NYC Lacrosse team their primary Spring 2021 sport/activity/lacrosse program (outside of school lacrosse teams) or you will be placed/moved to another Doc's NYC team.  Before the season starts, we ask families to be very honest with the directors about being able to make the commitment if you are given a spot on a Blue team, in fairness to other teammates/families on the team.

Program Summary for Boys 6U-7U (K-1)

Format is small groups managed by 1-2 coaches, learning lacrosse basics; we use non-competitive and competitive drills mostly in a station work teaching format; a progression of individual skills (rotational among the coaches) are taught, gradually building toward small space game play.

Most welcome (with our without lacrosse background).  Please reach out to us directly if you are interested in serving as a parent-coach this Spring by emailing Scott.Woodworth@Citylax.org

BOYS 9U-14U (formerly 3-8th grade) Spring 2021 Basic Information for all Teams

For staffing and planning, you will need to sign up for each evaluation session; a registration link will be posted on our website, 1st week of January).

BOYS 9U/10U (formerly 3/4th Grades)

  • Game/Tournament Schedule.  Start weekend of April 10-11th and go through May 22-23 (subject to final scheduling).  Scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays (sometimes both) against teams in Metro area, in either the  7v7 (or 8v8)--we split into two teams-- or 10v10 formats (depends on the opponent).
However, there will be games against certain opponents where we will play regular full field 10v10, especially with 4th graders.
  • Do not stop here. Be sure to Scroll down past 11U/14 U for Important Dates and Supplemental Information and the registration link or continue to 11U/14U

BOYS 11U/ 14U (formerly 5-8 Grades)
