Program Summary for Girls K-2nd Grade DIVISION (6U/7U/8U)

Please see below for a program description, registration guidelines, important dates, and other key information for families to know in order to have a successful lacrosse experience with us.  We appreciate the opportunity to have your child in our program.  The information below should provide you in detail with what you need to know in order to register.  Please read it carefully.

You can always reach us with your questions at Hadleymongellcitylax@gmail.com and Mat.Levine@citylax.org.

Overview of Program.  Guided by US Lacrosse's LADM (Lacrosse Athlete Development Model), in the spring we offer our very successful teaching clinics/practices conducted on Sundays, usually mornings (in 2022, 8:30-10AM) .   Sessions are 75-90 minutes. Players will receive a Doc's NYC Lacrosse uniform (all other equipment is supplied by each family; see our website home page for what equipment is needed and where to purchase).

Format.  Format is small groups managed by 1-2 coaches, learning lacrosse basics; we use non-competitive and competitive drills, mostly in a "station work/teaching" format; a progression of individual skills (rotational among the coaches) are taught, gradually building toward small space game play.   Coaches are guided by our Field Director who conducts each session with a weekly practice plan.   Beginning players will receive individual instruction as well as group instruction.  To conclude the season, we traditionally will host or travel and "play" another appropriate program in the Metro area (one day; a few hours), at the discretion of the Directors; projected to be Late May or Early June, on a Saturday or Sunday.

          Schedule

  • Dates:  April 16, 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21, and June 4.
  • Sessions are Sundays - 830AM - 10 AM; PLEASE Note* that Times and Locations Have To be finalized based on final Permits.

*Note: exact time and location of the field could vary slightly due to final permits, but we plan on the 2023 sessions (75-90 minutes) to be on Sundays, in the 830-10AM time frame at either Randall's Island Fields, Riverdale Country School, Fieldston School, or Tibbetts Brook Park.

No previous lacrosse experience is necessary.
